Brunello 2019 - THE dream vintage?!
Everything was just right. Nature, the vines, and us: we were one. Nature gave us an uncomplicated year: the vines had enough water to grow, warmth to develop, and a big difference in temperature from day to night to ripen the grapes - the perfect conditions to produce great wines.
spring to summer
In spring, there was moderate to heavy rainfall, which allowed for a good accumulation of water in the soil, especially for the hot periods.
Below-average temperatures during bud break led to a brief delay in development - but this was fully made up for from flowering onwards.
The summer was hot and sometimes dry - the vines could draw on the water reserves in the soil and vegetate in a balanced way. There were no major problems with plant protection, and the vines and grapes were healthy and could start ripening at the right time.
the grand finale
And as is typical of a dream year, the temperatures became milder, and the difference between day and night increased - ideal conditions for the final ripening phase of the grapes.
Very little rainfall during the harvest phase allowed us to observe every single cru down to the smallest detail and wait for the best harvest time for each tiny parcel.
So we didn't promise too much - it was simply a dream vintage! And this is also reflected in the opinions of the best-known tasters:
